HARBOUR BOARD MAKES DECISION
Seven applications for grants were received by the Lyttelton Harbour Board to-day. The board considered them in committee, Dr Thacker protesting against that course, and asking if the board did not wish the public to know what it was doing. The following grants were agreed
ciation £lO 10 0 The work of the Royal Life-Saving Society was praised by Messrs W. K. M’Alpine nad Mr H. Holland, and Mr W. T. Lester spoke in favour of the Sailor’s Society, saying that it was part of the life of the port. Dr Thacker said that the Sailors’ Society was doing good work in a very able way, especially ih regard to convalescent sailors discharged from the hospital.
