“BELIEVE US IT’S GREAT!”
OFFICERS MAKE AREOPLANE TRIPS. This morning sixteen officers of the Australian cruisers at present visiting Lyttelton made a trip to the Wigram aerodrome. were shown over the hangars by Captains Findlay and Isitt. At about ten o’clock three ’planes hopped off in a strong wind and headed for" the city. Some of the officers had not flown previously, and had looked forward to this morning’s treat. “Red hot! Had no idea flying was such a thrill.” This and similar remarks they made after landing. The three ’planes were kept busy for about an hour and a half, coming and going, *bne after the other. There was no waiting. Every time a ’plane landed two more passengers were ready for their flight. Captain Isitt thought he would put a damper on their enthusiasm by putting his passengers through a “ stunting turn.” He halfrolled, side-slipped, nose-dived and capered about generally for about five minutes, when he considered that he had just about given them enough of it. He landed and, turning to his passengers, said: “ How did that strike 3*ou?” and received the squashing reply, “ Do it again.” “ We’ve thoroughly enjoyed ourselves,” the officers told a reporter when the flying was over and the party had gone indoors for morning tea. “The view \*«&s superb. x We had no idea the town was so spread out. It was quite clear at 3000 feet up, but it was very cold, and we took care keep as much of ourselves inside the cockpit as possible. Still, flying will do us. Believe us, it’s fine/
