TO THE EDITOR Sir, —The other day 1 entered a large city retail establishment to buy n pair of men’s brown shoes. The youth showed me a New Zealand shoe at 59s (3d, and an English shoe at 55s (3d. I bought neither. Later, elsewhere, I bought an English shoe of very much better quality at 53s 6d net. I think it- is the general experience that English footwear in the city to-day in cheaper than New Zealand footwear. Should this be so?—I am, etcECONOMIST.
