A SUGGESTION.
RUGBY SCORE BOARDS. TO THE EDITOR. sir,—An interesting score-board suggestion lias been made in Wellington, so that spectators nan be kept posted as to tho points obtained by encli side and tire names of the try-getters and goal-kickers. 'l'he idea might well ho considered in Canterbury. For instance, the board might be ivorKeel in nnmbeia as follows: TEAMS. MARI STS. MER IV ALE. (Players denoted by numbers.) Trv. Goa 1. Points. Try. Goal. Points. 4 15 3 G 5 If 4 stood for Mullins and 1 for Kane in the case of Marists, and 3 for Forsyth, 3 for Penberthy in tho case of Merivale. it would show that Mullins had scored for Marists, Kano converting, and Forsyth for Merivale. Penberthv converting, making the score at that stage b all. If Mullins got another try, the number 4 would go up again, and the total points would bo altered accordingly.. Perhaps it might- he preferable to put tlie actual names of the players up. At all events, the system would add very much to the interest of the game, and lend to bigger attendances. There are scores of people, who go once a year to a football match, remain for an hour and a half, completely ignorant of who s been doing the good work, and then leave rather fedup. determined to stay away unless hauled there hv main force.—l am. etc., ONLOOKER.
