OLD BOYS (17), SYDENHAM (6). Old Boys kicked off agoinst tlie wind. L'p and down play marked the opening stages cf the game. Oid Boys were on the point, of scoring when Sydenham came away with ft lush that carried play right down the field. A force-down resulted. From the kick into play Old Boys set up a strong attack which ended in Bowes scoring. The kick at goa! /ailed. Sydenham then attacked, and a scramble near the line resulted in Great batch scoring. Tho try was not converted. Th© change over at the end of twentv minutes gave Old Boys tho advantage of ‘the wind. Their forwards, following up «, high kick from a penalty, carried jrlay right in front oi thft goal posts, but a force-down resulted Old Boys continued to attack, though at times the Sydenham forwards started rushes that looked dangerous. The slippery ground •nd greasy ball made fast back play almost impossible, as the Old Boys found to their cost.
