ADDINGTON (17) SYDENHAM (3) Playing on the south ground at Lancaster Park to-day, Addington outpaced Sydenham in the backs. Showing more combination and straighter running, Addington ran out winners by a good margin. The ground was greasy, but the play was always interesting and fast. B. Smith kicked off for Addington against the sou’-wester. A good run by F. Sanders went to the Sydenham twenty-five. The south suburbs cleared, and W. Green was prominent with a fine spectacular run to the Sydenham twenty-five, where Mortlock marked wide out, and J. Sanders placed a splendid goal. The south, suburbs backs swept through by fir.e passing, but Hern missed the final pass and a sure score. AT . Green made <in opening, and a nice bout of passing by R,. Watts, W. Green, F. Sanders and Mortlock resulted n Mortlock scoring wide out. J. Sanders converted with a splendid kick. Hill was conspicuous by running strongly to the Addington twenty-five, but lost ihe ball. J. Young and Coomber carried on, and in front of the Addington goal Matthews sent cut to Marshall, on to Young, to Coomber, to Hern, who scored wide out. Cunningham famny to improve. R. Watts cleverlv evaded Ihe ooposing backs, and passing by R. Watt W. Green, to F. Sandem, saw the latter scoring for J. Sanders to goal just before the Interval. A strong run by F. Sanders commenced tho second half. 11. Xing saving cleverly, and the south forwards, with Trudgeon and W. King prominent, had play in the Addington twenty-five. The south backs, by a series of. passing rushes, made many efforts to score, till finally W Green and Symistex cleared and the Addington forwards dribbling Smit , h -nicked up. and sending to Gibbon, the latter passed in to A. Green who scored. J. Sanders failed to improve’ Mortlock got away, nn d failing to pass, H Kmg oleverly returned, and Trudgeon led his forwards to the Addington line. A nioe passing rush by the south backs gave Hem a ere at chance, but Addington returned to xy m ei lr r ,t V thistle sounded. Referee, Mr T. M’l/elland.
