NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. K meeting of the Management Committee oi the New Zealand Cricket Council was held last evening lo consider an offer from the Australian Imperial Forces cricket team to_ tour Now Zealand during tho present cricket season. Mr F. C. Raphael presided, and there were also present:—Messrs J. S. Barrett, S. F. Wilson. IV, 31. Winsor, E. R. Caygill, D. Reese and ,T. F. Peake. The offer was contained in a letter from Mr C. L. Brown, honorary secretary of the sports section of the Australian Imperial Forces. The writer stated that, it had been frequently published in Australia, that New Zealand was desirous of having a visit from the Australian Imperial Forces cricket team on its way hack from overseas, after its verv successful performances against teams in the Old Country and in South Africa. It was, impracticable then for tho team to visit New- Zealand; but several of the best of the Australian soldier-crickctors were anxious to visit New 1 Zealand, if only for a short period, before the close of the present season, Provided that the shipping facilities were available, the representatives could bo on the water within a week of the receipt of a favourable reply from the committee. The chairman said if. was quite impossible to arrange the tour. Tho cricket season ■ closed at the end of March, and the weather diming April could not be depended on. Ho did not think the associations would agree to the tour. Mr Cavgill expressed tho opinion that the suggestion, for the tour had been made too late.. Other members expressed a similar opinion, and it was decided to reply by cable expressing regret that it was too late to arrange'for tours.
