FIRE BRIGADES.

DOMINION CONFERENCE. [Per Press Association.] HASTINGS.. March 3. The United Fire Brigades conference concluded to-day. It was decided that the amount of subsidy, which it was decided should he asked from the insurance companies, be altered from £SOO to £IOOO. Regarding standard uniforms, the secretary said that the executive had been making exhaustive inquiries, but had found only one firm who were able to talk business. The executive wore getting some up-to-date designs from j the United States and they had got! some from England, but at the present prices and in view of the scarcity of! material, it was thought that it would I be better to defer the matter and I allow the executive to report to the j next conference, when sonicthing definite would bo brought down. Suporintondant Crosse (Hamilton), on behalf of his brigade, invited the association to hold their next conference at Hamilton, provided that there was no demonstration. Ho was afraid that his brigade could not provide, for a demonstration. Napier s claim to the next conference and demonstration was acknowledgedIhe Napier Eire Services asked that the executive give nine months 1 notice. The secretary said that notice could bo giien aboiu Hay next, I*ailing Napier being able to provide for a demonstration it could probably lie held by invitation either at Dunedin or Christchurch.
