A fire on tlio waterfront at Portland, Oregon, destroyed six blocks. The damage is estimated at £200,000. Two steamers, tho Cricket, loaded with asphalt, and the Glcnroy, with wheat, wcro destroyed. Tlio crow of tho latter woro rescued with difficulty. Helped by tons of sulphur ami asphaltstored in the vicinity, the Haines spread with amazing rapidity.
