CLOSER SETTLEMENT.

THE HILLERSDEN ESTATE. [Pjoi Putss Association.]

BLENHEIM, May 14. In connection with the acquisition of the Hillersden Estate, it is estimated that it will provide holdings for about thirty settlers. A considerable proportion of the country is mountainous, and not capable of carrying many sheep. It is stated that there are about 12,000 acres of arable land. The- official intimation has not yet been received by the Commission, but it is stated that as soon as he is officially informed arrangements will be made immediately for the subdivision, so the land may be ready for the -settlers to take up their holdings when the present occupiers go out, presumably on March 1.
