THE INDRABARAH.
TERAWHITI STANDING BY.
LINE ASHORE AT LAST.
A HEROIC SIATE. [Per Press Association'.] SIARTON, Slay 13. Information received this morning states that the Indrabarah cannot be reached on horseback at low tide. The Terawhiti is standing nearby. The sea is /rougher than it was yesterday and a strong westerly wind is blowing. A party from Bulls arrived at the beach this morning and in a boat went alongside the steamer, apparently trying to take a line ashore. Two attempts were made and in the first the boat was nearly capsized, as the wash was down coast, and the boat was immediately driven out of the lee of "the steamer and got into difficulties, and had to put back. The second attempt was equally unsuccessful. One of the boat's crew jumped overboard with a line attached in an effort to swim ashore in the heavy sea. However, he soon got into difficulties and after struggling for some time had to sever the life-line, as he was nearly exhausted. The second mate, Sir Adoock, plunged in to his assistance and after a severe effort brought him to land. Sir Adcock also was much., exhausted. It will be remembered that Sir Adcock previously pluckily rescued Slonson. A little later those aboard attached a length of sewing twine to a tin, which floated towards the shore. Sir Adcock swam out and brought this ashore. Thicker lines were successfully attached to the twine and to each other, and eventually a liin rope was got ashore. Constant communication is now probable.
