NEW ZEALAND'S AMATEUR DEFINITION.

The Interstate Rowing Conference passed a motion that New Zealand should be informed that if its amateur definition be altered in aocordancervrith the definition under whiqh interstate races are rowed there would be no objection to the admission of New Zealand crews to the annual rowing championships of Australia, provided the States of the Commonwealth were thereby placed under no obligation, to send crews to New Zealand. The mover withdrew from the above motion a clause proposing that there be no objection to footballers rowing as amateurs, provided they receive no money for their services, as football is regarded as a game and not as an athletic exercise.
