Druxkjsnnkss.—Two first offenders for drunkenness were each lined 6s, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment.
Rkuaxded.—Kenneth M'Leod appeared on charges of drunkenness, having used obscene language and having assaulted Constable Bickerdale in the execution of his duty. The accused, who appeared yesterday on a charge of disorderly conduct, and who had a bad record extending over several years, was remanded for a week. Vagrancy. —Martha Jane Hicks, an elderly woman, appeared on a charge of being an idle and disorderly person without visible lawful means or support. She was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, on the understanding that she should remain in the Refuge Home for one month. Theft.—Leonard Edwards, alias Gilligan, a young man, pleaded not guilty to a chargo of having stolen on April 15 two piecets of tweed valued at £1 12s 6d. the property of George Shammy. The informant said that he had been having a few drinks with accused in the Queen's Hotel and had given accused a parcel containing the tweed to look afjer for him whilst he (witness) went out for a few minutes, but when he returned accused had disappeared with the tweed. Detective M'Leod said that the accused had refused to say where he had taken the parcel when asked for it by the detective. but had admitted that ho had it in his possession. Accused said that he bad only been minding the parcel, but had had a few drinks ana had taken it to his lodgings. Ho was remanded for a week for sentence.
