NEW ZEALAND TROTTING ASSOCIATION.
The monthly meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association was held this afternoon. There were present Messrs P. Selig (president), C. S. Howell. E. Clarkson, C P. Mark\ W. G. Garrard and A. L. Myers. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. BE. Pollock and W. Hayward. Mr Pollock forwarded two suggestions for alterations to the rules. One wag intended to prevent the employment in or about e training stable of an>* person who had been refused a license or who had.iad his license cancelled, and the other was intended to provide that teii minutes before the start of „ race the starter or his deputy should be supplied with an official list of all horses qualified to start. It "wa s decided that the suggestions should be discussed later on, along with the others already in the suggestionbook.
A copy of a portrait of the late Mr Robert "Wilkin, the "lather of trotting" in New Zealand, was forwarded by Mr R. O. Duncan, on behalf of Mrs "Wilkin. It was resolved to write to Mrs "Wilkin expressing the Association's appreciation of the gift end also to thank Mr Duncan.
A. P. Taylor appealed against ihe decision of the Beaumont Jockey Club in disqualifying the horse Conbcrah. The horse finished first in the Farewell Trot Handicap, but on being informed' that it had started before its time the judge altered his placings. The appeal was dismissed. A complaint was received from J. Butler that the starter at the Kumara Racing Club's Autumn Meeting had kept his horse fifteen seconds after its proper time. Tho starter, he stated, admitted that he had made a mistake. It was decided to forward a copy of the letter to - the olub. A letter was received from the Kaikoura Racing Club asking the Association to reconsider its decision not ' to grant a permit for trotting events on the club's programmes. It was decided io defer consideration of the letter till the next programme was before theAssociation. The New South "Wales Trotting _ Club wrote stating that it was in accord with the Association's opinion that the matters to bep discussed at the conference suggested by tho Victorian Association could be dealt with, in tho early stages, by correspondence. An application from M. Allan for assistance ' from the Provident Fund was referred to tho Licensing Committee. The programme cf the recently-formed North Otago Jockey Club was passed. On tho rcoommendation of the Foreign Horse Committee, certificates were issued for Leonore, Lauraine and Vigorous. Licenses, as recommended by the Licensing Committee, were granted, that of E. J. O'Brien with a caution. Albert Kerr was granted a conditional license, and the applications of W. Grant, Welby E. Green, V\*. Huston, jun". : and H. E. Barnes were declined. The committee reported having paid _6 and an amount to cover medical expenses to T. G. Fox from the Provident Fund. The committee recommended that the applications for the removal of the disqualification of Robert Adamson (Wataroa)\ John Love (Alexandra South) and W. M'Naughton (Poolburn) should be granted, the two last-named subject to receipt of information asked for, and with the condition that if they took part in any other unregistered meetings no further applications would be entertained. The report was adopted.
