ARBITRATION COURT.
[Per Prf.ss Association.] DUNEDINj August 6. Mr W. Scott, addressing the Arbitration Court this morning in the coal mining dispute, on behalf of the employers, said that lignite mining Ah New Zealand wa«s doomed on account of the excessive cost of working this poor coal. The heavy burden which owners had to bear as regards taxation and competition was having a serious effect' on the industry, and electricity was ruining the trade for engine coal, upon which the lignite mines depended largely. ___„______.
