+ A strong and cold south-west wind blew at Lytteltou last night and to-day, and raised a considerable sea. Heavy rain squalls passed ' during the m'ght. Vessels arriving from the north were somewhat hindered. The (•..&• Maori from Wellington was an hour behind her usual tiino in arriving. FLOODS AT WAIROA. [Per Press Association.] WAIROA, August 6. There is a heavy southerly gale, with incessant rain, which has caused a flood in the river. The wharves are submerged. GISBORNE, August 6. A heavy south-easterly gale is raging with a high sea. There is no sign of the Union Company's Flora, which was <lue this morning on. a special trip to take excursionists to Auckland for the fleet week. The storm is proving severe to young lambs, and a good deal cf mortality is expected.
