Mr James Allen, M.H.R., left for the south by the first express this morning. Mr W...-L. Winstone, of Cape Town, late. chief clerk in the Christchnrch branch of the South British Insurance Company, has been promoted to the managership of the company's branch at JKast London, South Africa. The Rev Father Dahdah arrived from Wellington by the s.s. Rotomafcana this morning. Mr H. Moult, who has attended to the equipment of the electric cars for tb» Construction Company, will be carded foreman for "the Tramway Board. He has had experience in connection with • electric tramways in Manchester &nd Glasgow, and in the famous Twojpenny Tube in London, and has also pad American experience. Mr J. Allen, M.H.R., went south by the first express this morning.
