ALLEGED LIBEL.
CLAIM AGAINST A LEGISLATOR. . [Per Pbess Association.] TIMARU, May 13. Mr W. S. Maslin, mayor of Geraldine, has just issued a writ on the Hon J. M. Twomey, M.L.C., claiming £1000 damAges for libel alleged to have been contained in an article in the latter's paper, the " Temuka Leader," on April 18. The artiole was in reference to the evidence given by Mr Maslin before the Land Commission in Timaru. The case is to come on for hearing at the next s'tting of the Supreme Court at Timaru on June 6.
