WOOL SALES.
CHRISTCHURCH. The concluding wool sales of the 1904-5 season in Christchurch were held this morning at the Agricultural Hall. The seven catalogues comprised 3433 bales, and, as is usual at the end of the season, the quality of the wool was for the most part from indifferent to inferior. Tlie attendance of buyers was much smaller than at the previous sales of the season, although some who had not attended the earlier sales were ! present. Growers and the public were sparsely represented. Competition' was not animated, but merino and fine half-bred wools attracted fair attention, and, taking condition into consideration, realised about January values. Threequarter-bred and and coarse, cross-bred wools, with inferior half-breds were Id to ljd per ib lower than in January. All prices were considerably lower, the largest operator at previous sales being silent on this occasion. A considerable entry of scoured . wools, including some particularly well-got-up station-scoured merinoes, were well competed for, and brought good prices. The proportion of sales to the quantity offered was smalled than at the earlier auctions, but still tlie season was brought to a satisfactory close. Prices were as follow:— Merino, medium to good 9d to 9Jd, inferior 8d to B|d, pieces to 9Jd, looks to 52d. HaTl'-bred, medium to good .9jd to lOJd, inferior 8d to 9d, pieoes to Bd.
