» ; ; A meeting of the committee of the Avon, Rowing Club was. held yesterday evening ; present — Messrs M'Donald (In the chair), Tapling, Baylis, Ebert, Barnett, Hannan, Allard, Scott and Good. Two new members were elected. Mr B. W. Harding, on behalf of Messrs Dennis Bros. (Auckland), presenttd a silver cup value £9 9s to the club. The drawing for the trial pair?, to be rowed on Nov. 22 and 23, resulted as foiloAvs : — First heat: B. Harris (stroke), Armstrong (bott) v. H. Prettyjohh (stroke), E. Hopkins (bfttt). Second heat: H. Kennedy (stroke), F. Good (bow) V. C. Barnett (stroke), H. Best (bow). Third heat: A. Evans (.stroke), E. Harris (bow) v. G. Bush (stroke), P. Reid (bow). A meeting of the Executive of the Union Rowing Club was held at the jßoathouse yesterday evening. Mr D. Lee occupied the chair. A large amount of correspondence was received. Six new members were elected. A hearty vote of thawks was passed to the lady friends who as-, sisted at the club's "At Home " on Opening Day." In answer to an inquiry from AkitToa with reference to holding {hat regatta on Saturday, Dec. 15, it was decided to reply that the club could riot support that date is crews would find 1 d difficulty in getting aw^si _. <
