AN APPEAL CASE.

An appeal case of public interest til connection with CroWn land settlement was heard before the Chief Justice to-day, when James Walsh appealed against the decision of the Land Board in alloting a section Co John Auglim,. who Ws» successful at the ballot. The ground of contention was that Auglim's applicatson for the land had been signed by the acting postmaster, whereas Section 8 of the Justices of the ' Peace Act, 1888, provided that onfy a postmaster authorised for the purpose ca___s>°a-fy r attest a statutory declaration.
