The annual meeting of th-*BJMigloifc'Vete-rans' Cricket Club was held; at tihe'(&>rfi Exchange last evening. Mr J l . B-;- Wilson presided. The balance-sheet showed receipts £12 8s sd, expenditure £7 16s 6d, credit bal&nce £4 lis lld. Officers were elected as follbwk; — Patron, Mr R. Moore, M.H.Ri ;; pi.sfi_ent, Mr J. B. Wilson ; vice-presidents, Messrs M. ' Scott, H. Bailey, J. Sansom andthe Mayor ; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. T. Wilsooi ; committee, Messrs T. bhepperd, T. White, J. Reynolds, H. Bailey, H. Turner, and J. W. Foster; captain, Mr. H. Bailey. The opejning of tlie season was fixed for Thursday, Oct. 6, and it was decided to challenge the Rangiora Club's Thursday team. It was resolved to give a guinea towards the maintenance of the Rangiora Club's practice pitch on condition that the Veterans be allowed to play on it. Votes of thanks were passed to tlie retiring officers, and to tlie ladies who provided afternoon tea. Mr Bailey offered a bat for presentation to the player who makes the highest score in an innings during the season. Mr T. White presented a ball to the club. This concluded the business.
The annual meeting of the Irwell Cricket Club'was held in the schoolroom, Irwell, on Monday. The Treasurer's report showed a credit balance of £8 9s 6d. The bat for best batting average was won by R. Coe. Mr E. F. Coe again offered a bat for the best batting average of tlie ensuing season. Tlie election of officers resulted as follows : —Patron, Mr W. M'Millan ; President, Mr G. E. Rhodes ; vice-presidents, Messrs P. Jackson, ». Bailey, ik r?t Cha ?™ ai1 ' W. H. Montgomery, M.H.R., and J. Eaglesome; captain,' Mr R. graham ; vice-captain and secretary, Mr R Coe ; treasurer, Mr E. F. Coe. It was decided to open the season on Sept. 24. Votes of thanks to Mr E. F. Coe and to tbe Chairman closed the meeting. rrStf*™? 1 mee^ . of the Cricket Club was held in the Caversham Hotel on Tuesday evening, when there was a good attendance of memebrs, Mr J. Brice (vice-presi-dent) in the chair. The following were elected officers for the ensuing year- — Patron, Mr- T. Ravenhill; president, Mr' A. Marshall; vice-presidents, Messrs W P Cowhshaw, J. Brice, G. Marshall, J. Irvine' sen., E. Ball, C. Lewis, M.H.R., Shand, A. Hendy, T. Danks, jun., T. Lyons and Dr Orchard; general committee, Messrs F Townsend, S. Poore, T. Thompson, J. Irvine and H. Fleming ; selection committee, Messrs S. Poore, K. Kite and F. Townsend ; treasurer, Mr K. Kite ; secretary, Mr L Taylor ; captain, Mr S. Poore ; vice-captain, Mr T. Thompson. It was decided to open the season next Saturday. Several trophies were promised for the- ensuing year. Twenty-three . new- members were elected.
