MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.

The quarterly summoned meeting of the Loyal Rangiora Lodge of Oddfellows was held last evening. The Deputy-Grand Master (Bro A. M'Lean) was' 'present. P.P.G.M. Marshall, Past Grands W. Smith, Scudder and Bell were appointed. delegates to the annual District Meeting, to be held on April 16. It was decided to apply to the District officers for a grant of from the Distress Fund for the relief of a brother,; and also to increase his chronic .sick relief to 7s 6d per week for the present quarter. The question of establishing, a Benevolent Fund in connection with the Lodge was held over till next meeting. A vote of thanks to the Deputy-Grand Master and other visitors was passed and acknowledged. Two candidates were initiated and two proposed. The receipts of the evening amounted to about .£l5O, and accounts totalling .£147 12s 8d were passed for payment. The business being uncompleted, the meeting was adiourned till April 13. The quarterly meeting of the Resolution Division of the Sons and Daughters of Temperance, Rangiora, was held last evening, when there was a good attendance. The introduction of the system of half, benefit members/ both male and female, seems to have been favourably received, as five candidates had been proposed, three of whom came forward for initiation. The receipts of the evening amounted to .£4O.
