LAND BOARD.
A meeting of the Canterbury Land Board was held yesterday ; present — Messrs S. Weetman, commissioner (chairman), A. C. Pringle, J. M'Lachlan and R. Meredith, M.H.R. The following applications were granted : — Lease in perpetuity, section 40, block VII., Mackenzie suburbs, Cheviot, 6a 3r 3p, James Annand; lease in perpetuity, section 21, block X., "Wharenui Hamlet, Christchurch, 2a 2r, P. J. Musgrove; section 22, ditto, F. H. Musgrove; section 23, ditto, W. A. Musgrove ; sections 36351-2-3, blocks XIII and XIV, Shepherd's Bush, Rangitata, 1650 a, Robert Anderson. The following transfers of leases were approved : — Lot 28, block X, Lake Ellesmere, from W. Bennett to S. Bennett ; and pastoral run No. 158 a, Rakaia Gorge, from H. P. MurrayAynsley to Alfred, Gomyns.. , The selector of lot 4, Otaio Settlement, was notified to pay up all arrears, and to be in permanent residence within two months on pain of forfeiture of his interest. The holder of lot 5, Roiniata settlement, was ordered to reside on his section, or transfer his interest by July 7. Failing to comply his lease would be forfeited. The lessee of lot 7, Otarakaro settlement, was similarly dealt with on a notico of two months. Four purchasers of land at Lake Ellesmere applied for exemption from the residence clause. 'The Board did not, however, seeits way toalterits previousdecision.? A proposal by the Mackenzie County Coun-' cil for the expenditure of thirds was approved, subject to confirmation by the Hon the Minister of Lands. It was resolved to re-offer E.S. 36228, Hunters Hills, for selection _afc a rental of 8d per acre, weighted with a valuation df .£123 for improvements. Tenders * •_■.. tbe occupation of town blocks, 1 yvwald, -were accepted as follows! — t^ v£jj n., oa lr, £2 7s 3d per - jum, .Rebecca Poison; Blocks 111., IV.', V., lla 22p, at .£5 14s 6d per annum, Darfield Saleyards Company; block VI., 10a Or lip, 8s 6d per annum, J. Moffatt. The Board decided not to group certain unselected small lots on Hekeao Settlement, as applications had already been received for some of them. Rakaia town sections Nos. 562, 564, 566, 568, 569, 590, 592 and 594 were vested in the South Rakaia Road Board as a plantation reserve, subject to the usual conditions of fencing and planting.
