RANGIORA RAM FAIR.
The annual stud sheep fair under the auspices of the Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held at the North Canterbury saleyards yesterday. The entry comprised about 300, including English Leicesters from the flocks of Messrs H. B. Peryman, J. Brown, P. C. Threlkeld and R. W. Chapman; Border Leicesters from Mr M. Macfarlane, who had an eatry of 40; Shropshires from Messrs S. Gibbs and J. Johns ; and Lincolns from Messrs W. Pearson, C. Skevington, H. E. Peryman and AY. Sansom. The sale was not particularly bright, the only decided inquiry bein°- for English Leicesters and Shropshire's. For tho former Mr J. Brown's sheep topped the sale at 2igs ; and for Shropshires one of Mr Johns's .entry brought 4<*s. The prices were :— Lincolns, Iff to H»; Shropshire Downs, l^g to 4gs; Eng'Hsh Leicesters, Hg to2Jgs ; and Border Leicesters, lg to lAgs.
Lecture.— Mrs Harris ("Jenny Wren") J will deliver a lecture at the Women's Christian Temperance Union Eooma, at eight o'clock this evening, on " Woman s Work 'and Influence: Past, Present and Future." '
