NEW ZEALAND RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL MEETING. TPer Press Association.! OAMARU, March 15. The Now Zealand ammuuition was withdrawn, and Victorian used, yeb the men were dissatisfied, and many openly confessed as the day wore on that they would prefer to shoot with the New Zealand ammunition of December, 1897. An application has been made to allow the competitors to have the option of usinoNew Zealand or Victorian ammunition 5 , and very probably the request will be conceded. Nine teams' have entered for the Champion Teams Match, which is decided by the grand aggregates of the five-highest men from any corps or rifle club in Hawke's Bay, Marlborough, Wanganui, Oamaru, Christchurch, Wellington and Otago matches. Owing to no money havinobeen subscribed by the local residents towards the Oainaru match, the prizemoney for this match has been reduced from .£l2O to .£63. During the afternoon a couple of singlerange matches, each counting for the Belt, were shot off. In the first, the Marlborough, at 500 yds some excellent shooting was witnessed, both weather and light having improved. Sergeant Soinmerville, of the Alexandra Cavalry, won with the good score of 48 out of 50. In the Wanganui match, 700 yds, the shooting was about as poor as could bo seen. Quite half of tho scores were under 20 out of a possible 50, and the only fair score was by Eobinson, who secured five under the possible.
