NEW STAMPS. ;

The Neio Zealand Times says : — We have had the pleasure of inspecting the proofs of the new stamps which are to be issued shortly throughout the colony. They are the most tasteful we have ever seen, really constituting in the miniature splendid advertisements of New Zealand scenery, and the choice of colours for each has evidently been the work of a connoisseur. The 2d and 2id stamps are about half an inch long by an inch broad, and bear on their faces respectively pictures of Milford Sound and Mount Earnshaw. The sd, on the contrary, is about an inch long by half an inch broad, and displays a beautiful picture of the Otira Gorge, with a circular peep of Mount Euapehu artististically let in. The 4d (Pink Terraces), id (Mount Cook), 2d (Francis Joseph glacier) are smaller, as is the 6d, which has a contemplative kiwi on its face.
