ENGINEERS' BAND.
The half-yearly meeting of the Canterbury Engineers' Band was held in the hall last evening. Captain Dougall, in the absence of Mr A. E. G. Rhodes, presided. The half-yearly balance-sheet showed the band to be in a sound financial condition, the receipts having been .£361 13s 7d, and the expenditure .£327 2s 3d, leaving a credit balance of .£34 11s 4d. The assets exceeded the liabilities by .£36(3 16s sd. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows : — President, Mr A. E. G. Rhodes; vice-presidents, Messrs Struthers and J. Hart, Captain Dougall, Captain Joyce, Rev W. S. Bean and Mr G. Andrews ; treasurer, If i- H. Wilson ; custodian, Mr Hean ; bandmaster, Mr Pooley ; committee, Messrs J. Fielding, A. Pratt, A. Simpson, C. Dunn and J. Gribben. After the business of the meeting had been transacted a smoke concert "was held. Songs were contributed by Messrs Pooley, Glen, Maurice, Close, Pratt, Clark and A. Simpson. The toasts of " The Queen," " Vice-President," "The Bandmaster," " Canterbury Engineers Corps," " The Visitors," " Kindred Clubs," "The Ladies," and " The Press " were honoured.
