SYDNEY CYCLING SPORTS.
US EXTRAORDINARY BUNGLE. P?ek Press Association."! • SYDNEY, Oct. 5. Tire weather was fino and rather warm for the cycling sports. Local records were broken, including one by the committee for sheer muddleheadedness. The public were somewhat astonished to find that the committee had to run the 1 Tliree-niile Test over again, because some of those who fell out of the race protested. When the fiasco arose suggestions were mado to recall the men to make a fresh start, but the committee allowed the race to be finished and awarded \the race to Simpson. Then Simpson won the Halfmile Test, which practically gave him the premiership, but a protest -nras lodged accusing the New Zealander of interfering with a rider. The committee upheld the protest, and gave the race to the second man. Simpson lodged a protest against Ms protestant for boring, but this has not been decided. Both Simpson and Kerr declined to re-ride in the Three-mile Test, tut the former agreed to do so under protest. Goodson's subsequent win will cause Kerr to insist on his claims, so that there is confusion worse confounded. The object of the meeting was to get the best man to go Home, and not allow good men to be jostled out by a trivial protest. The Maorilander may with .some justice complain of lack of fair play. .Brady, the Auckland walker, was suffering from blistered heels, which destroyed any chance heliad in the, walking events. ■ .
