PROHIBITION MEETING.

I . ■ _ The Christchurch Prohibition- League ■ held its weekly meeting last evening in the Congregational Schoolroom, which was crowded to the doors. The Rev J. Dawson . occupied- the chair. After a quantity of correspondence relative to the proposed debates with the opponents of ; prohibition had been read and other general business disposed of, the following resolution was carried : — "That this League records its extreme dissatisfaction at the conduct of Mr W. W. Collins and his fellow-obstructionists in the House of Representatives, whose persistent and disgraceful opposition to the Alcoholic Liquors Sale Control Act Amendment Bill was in the interests of a degrading and powerful monopoly, and antagonistic to an extension of the people's power." A vote of thanks was passed to those members of the House who had assisted in the progress of the measure. The election of several new members brought the meeting to a close.
