SPORTING.

o [Per Press Association."! NAPIER, Oct. 3. A large number of visitors have arrived in view of the Jockey Club's races on Monday and Tuesday. The popular fancy for the Guineas is Day Star, but Dauntless is expected to keep the honours in the district. Many watched the final gallops on the tracks at Hastings this morning. Day Star and Acone worked over the five furlongs, the Guineas candidate moving in great style. The Possible, Orion's Belt and Rip van Winkle were associated in a mile and a quarter gallop, being taken along the first mile by Uniform. All finished well. Bonnie Scotland finished in front of Waterstone, The Brook and Waihauat the end of a strongly run circuit. Salvo and Belligerent were treated to halfpace work and are in good condition. Armilla, Si Canon, Woodstock, New Forest, Haeta and The Shrew did useful work.
