! A match was played at Rangiora on Saturday between an Ashley County Club t eleven and a team from Sumner. The county players batted first, and with four i -wickets down for 109 declared their innings closed. The scores were: — Bailey 9, Allen 26, Gulliver 13, Sale 31 not out, Chapman 23, Blunden 3 not out, extras 5. When time was called the Sumner team had nine wickets down for 76 runs, and the match therefore resulted in a draw. For Sumner the principal scorers were — Atkinson 34, A. Johnston 20. A match between teams from the, s.s. Rimutaka and Maori resulted in a win for the former. Messrs Forbes and West contributed two-thirds of the runs for the Eimutaka, while Brooker, for the Maori, was most successful with both bat and ball. Upper Riccarton defeated Linwood- on the latter's ground by six runs. The scores were : — Linwood 64 (Poore 10 not out) 5 Upper Riccarton 60 (Bush ,23). For Linwood, Griffin and Thomson bowled well, as did Bush and O'Farrell for Riccarfcon. The Albion Club defeated the Bible Christian Club by 26 runs.
