Ihe rainfall for January was: — Auckland «87in, Wellington 2-08tn, Ohrißtchurch l'7Bin, Dunedin 26in. The fall on the West Coast was very heavy— Wesfcport 12in, Greymouth 14in, and Hokitika 19$ in. At Dusky Sound the fall was 3135 in, and for December 28in. At Puysegur Point the record was 31*61 . Those returns bear out the reports brought back by visitors to the Otago Lakes in December and January, of the excessive rainfall in the western mountains.
