An ordinary meeting of this Board was held on Thursday, Feb. 7; present- 1 - Messrs Malcolm (chairman), Martin, Dale and Mace. Mr Andrews, of the Simmer Eoad quarries, waited on the Board to inquire into the working of the heavy ; traffic by-law. It was- resolved to have a special meeting to consider the matter. A ratepayer in St Martin's ward wrote, asking the Board to open up the Eiver Eoad to allow the river to flow over an old course that was shut off from the main stream some sixteen years ago. The Board decided that it could not at present undertake the work. • A request was received from the City Council for leave to fence across an- unformed road in the Avon Ward. As objections had been received against blocking this road, the request was not granted. It was resolved to obtain a supply of dog collars for the ensuipg year. The Drainage Board wrote, oifering a bonus of 2& per cent, besides commission, if all rates were- accounted for before March 31,' The offer was accepted. A report was received informing the Board that the repairs to the Opawa, Wilson's Eoad and Burwood Briages had been completed; and the- following works were or-' dered to be put in hand, viz., drainage in Hillsborough; estimated to cost with floodgate and concrete channelling to be laid at the south end of Opawa Eoad. The Finance Committee reported that the whole of the rates had been collected, and the oredit at the Bank was .£B6O, and recommended the payment of accounts, amounting to .£700.. ' • '<
