ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
THREE GIRLS DROWNED. [Special to Press Association.] MELBOURNE, Feb. 12. A girl named Gilpin, while bathing at Casterton, got out of her depth. Two sisters named Humphries went to her assistance, but they also got into difficulties, and all three were drowned. FOUND DEAD. This afternoon a man named Harry Ladd, a tailor, was found dead on the doorstep of a shop in Armagh Street. Ladd and hig wife lived in a room in the front part of the shop, which is occupied by Mr Pike, a second-hand dealer. The man came home a few minutes before two o'clock, when, it is stated, his' wife was lying in the room in a state of intoxication. He went out, saying that this would be the last his wife would see of him, and shortly afterwards he was found dead on the doorstep at the back of the shop. The police were at once communicated with, and an inquest will be held to-morrow.
