» [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Feb. 12. At the Westport Coal Company's meeting, the Chairman said the profit for the year amounted to w£14,109, which was less than last year owing to the keen competition with Newcastle. The development of the Westport mine had fully realised expectations, and would make up for the loss at Greymouth. In parting With the latter mine at a low price, the directors felt that they had got rid of a doubtful asset which caused . much anxiety. They • were now enabled to. boncentrate all their efforts on the development of the Westport property, from which satisfactory, results could be relied upon.
