MELBOURNE, Jan. 11,

In a two days' match between the Melbourne Club and a scratch team the latter made 334 runs. Eady, of Tasmania, carried out his bat for 156. The Melbourne Club lost eight wickets for 276 runs, Eady taking four wickets for 74 runs.

Local cricket in the various competitions was resumed on Saturday in fine weather. The two senior games were both finished, and in each case resulted in a single innings victory, Midland beating the United and Lancaster Park Sydenham and Addington United. The losing teams both batted a man short in the second innings. The principal events in junior circles were the easy defeat of United by Lancaster Park, and a victory by the Boys' High School over St Albans. Midland v. United. At the start 1 of Saturday's play the United had scored 142 and the Midland 233 for the loss of six wickets, T. W. Eeese being not but with 93 to his credit. He very soon reached his century, but left after adding another 5 runs. Lawrence shaped well for a while, but the end canio at 271. With the exception of a fine innings by Cotterill, and a tisef ul effort by E.
