WENSLEYDALE SHEEP.
While on his recent visit ..to England, Mr W. B. Clarksori made some further purchases of Wensleydele sheep, of which four arrived yesterday afcLyfctelton perß.s/ Ruahine. They comprise the first prize pen of three shearling ewes at the! last ' Wensleydale show afe Leybourne, anil oife ewe which was not exhibited. They were bred by Mr John Watson, of Danby, owner of one of the leading flocks of the breed. They are much larger than Mr Clarkson's first importation of ewes, very shapely and splendidly woolled ; and they are in lamb to the best ram of the breed that was of a distinct strain of blood to theirs. They arrived in excellent condition. A ram was also purchased, but his shipment with the ewes was prevented by some reason. It may be mentioned that Mr Clarkson's ram Pioneer, now at Masham, is full brother, a year yoiinger, to the champion ram at the last Royal show at Darlington, where there was a grand representation of the Wensleydales.
