ANGLING COMPETITION.

The Oamaru Mail says that Thursday waa a lovely day for the competition held by the local Society, but the river was rather high and disooloured for sucoeasf ul fishing. There were fourteen entries to compete for prizes. The competitors worked with a will to obtain first prize, but notwithstanding the skill which waa displayed by the keen devotees of the gentle art, the takes of the successful ones were amall while a number returned to town with no result. The following is the result of the day's fishing s— Mr John Dwyer— Four fish weighing 201 b, first prize j Mr W. Bruoe — Three fish weighing 12lb, second prize; Mr Charles Everett — Two fish weighing B£lb, third prize. The other anglers who were counted out were : — Mr D. Bobs, two fish weighing sfibj Mr John Young, one fish weighing 6lb; Mr. George Dennison, one fißh weighing 4}lb. Non-competitora : Mr Charles Jones, three .fish weighing. 131 b; Mr H. Mackintosh, two fish weighing 9£lb . Mr John Oliver, one fish weighing 51b.
