LYTTELTON.
Wednesday, August 28. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) Wilful Damage.— James M'Gerty was charged with breaking a pane of glass in the Lyttelton Hotel, valued at 123 6d. Mr Nalder appeared for defendant, who pleaded not guilty. After hearing the evidenco, hiß Worship dismissed the case. Affiliation. — Anthony Andrew wafl charged with failing to support hia illegitimate child. * Mr Nalder appeared jfor the complainant, and Mr Joynt for the defendant, who denied the parentage. After hearing the evidence of the complainant, his Worship Baid he was unable to hold that defendant w»b the father of the child, and the case would be dismissed without prejudice. Maintenance. — Charles and Adam Eatlray were called upon to show cause why they should not contribute to the support of their father, William Rattray. Mr Nalder appeared for the Bonß. In answer to the Bench the father said he was a shipwright and was fifty-five years of age. Bis wife was living, but he had not been living with her for about two years. There was a third eon who, with the mother, is being supported by the two elder sons. For the defence, the evidence waß to the effect that the father was of drunken habits, and neglected his work. The eons had for a considerable period supported the home, including £he mother and one son at school. His Worship said he did not think it was a case in which ho ahould make an order. The case would be dismissed. Civil CAaEfl.— J. W. Smith and Co. v. I. McLaughlin, claim £3 ss. Judgment for plaintiffs, for whom Mr Nalder appeared.— C. E. Curtis v. J. H. Williams, claim £1 3s 6d. Judgment for defendant. Mr Nalder appeared for defendant.
