THE INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.

It has been decided to light up the exhibition at night, in order to allow the exhibitors to work on their exhibits after dark. Last night this concession was taken advantage of by several persons, and the building presented a very busy and animated scene. Some exhibitors, however, have not yet begun work at their sections, and it is feared that these may not be ready in time for the opening to-morrow night. At half-past seven o'clock this evening there will be a final rehearsal, in the concert hall, of the National Anthem and "Zealandia" by the school children, under the direction of Mr Daltry. Mr H. Bossiter's orchestra will take part in the rehearsal. Unfortunately, Mrs Edgar is too unwell to be able to sing her solo, and her place will be taken by Mies Billens. A meeting of the Akaroa Ladies' Committee of the industrial exhibition was held on Friday afternoon in the schoolroom. There was a very good attendance, the Mayoress (Mrs G. Armstrong) presiding. A large amount of correspondence was dealt with. The Honorary Secretary reported that the different schools on the Peninsula had promised contributions, and that the local canvass had been very successful in obtaining exhibits.
