The Land of the Moa."
Me George Leitcb, with The Land of the Moa Dramatic Company, will open in Christchurch, at the Theatre Roya), on Monday next for a short season. The drama has undoubtedly made a distinct success with the public so far, being of great local and national interest. It ran for fourteen nights in the "Wellington Opera House, which ia said to be the New Zealand record for the run of one piece. The last night of its presentation in Wellington a large party from Government House, the- Premier and the members of the Legislature were present, and at the close of the performance the Hon R. J. Seddon and his colleagues visited the stage and warmly congratulated Mr Leitch upon the excellence of the drama. The production here will be on a very large scale, as may be gathered from the fact that upwards of .£2OOO has bean spent on the scenery and properties; the mechanical effects are also exceptionally good. The scenes comprise a view of Lyttelton Harbour, the Pink Terraces, the Eruption of Tarawera, a3 well as many others, all of which are pronounced to be exceptionally good. A troupe of real Maoris appear in the North Island scenes, and perform war dance 3, hakas, tangis, &c. Mr George Leitch will make his reappearance in Christchurohi and will be supported by a Btrong company, twenty-six in number.
