New Zealand Cricket Council,

A meeting of the committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council was .held at the City Hotel last evening ; present-rMessro F. Wilding (in the chair), T. D. Harman and L. A. Coff (Canterbury), T. D. Condell (Hawke'a Bay); W. H. Wanklyn (Taranaki) and C. B. Smith (honorary secretary).

The Secretary stated that he had written to the New South Wales and, Victorian Crusket Associations, asking if they would be able, to send a representative team to New Zealand next season. He had received » reply from the New South Wales Association, stating that the proposal to send a New Sonth Wales team to New Zealand could not be fully gone into until the annual meeting in Augußt. The Victorian Association had not replied to the letter. The Secretary said he had lent a ciroular to the various associations in the colony, asking them how much they would be prepared to guarantee towards paying the expenses of a team sent over by either the Hew South Wales or Victorian Aeaociatioas. Replies had been received : From Auckland, stating that it was nob in a position to grant any specific amount; '■ from Blenheim, stating that it could not grant any amount; from Canterbury, offering to guarantee a minimum amount Of from .£76 to jeiOO for a three, days' match j from Wellington, which waa untt prepared to make any offer until probable expenses were known. The Otago, flawke's Bay and Taranaki Association had not yet replied. After discussion it was decided, on the motion of Mr Wanklyo, to invite a team, consisting of twelve men and a manager, •- from the New South Wales Association to visit New Zealand during January or 3?ebtu»ry, 1896. It was also decided that the Council should receive 70 per oent of the ' großß takings at each match, after deducting ground expenses, and that, ■ provided the terms were acoepted, Dutches ' ihoold bo played in Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, Otago and Hawke's Bay (if V possible); -aIBO, two New Zealand matches, one in each ielnud.
