Van Buren made play until the straight was reached, when The Arbiter took command, and, going on, won comfortably by half-a-lenth from Van Buren, with Manilla a length away third. Time— lmin 19sec. Mountain Maid was in front until the straight was reached. Here she was challenged by Earmby, who, however, retired at the rails, and Clanaanald, who had been the last to inove, coming with a tremendous rush, got up just' on the post, and a dead heat resulted. Dividends— On Clanxanald £1 13s, on Mountain Maid £14 11s, The owner of Clanranald insisted upon running off, but as the owner of Mountain Maid refused to do bo, Clanranald was declared the winner.
