The Imperial forces stationed at the Macloutsie river are protecting Khama's country, and Khama -will assist the British. The Imperial police have occupied Yati, on the border of Khama's country and Matabele land. Sir Henry Loch, Governor of Cape Colony, considers that the Matabele are ' trying to force on a war. It is reported in Pretoria that the

cession of Swaziland to the Transvaal is virtually settled. ; The entire strength of the Chartered Company's forces at Fort Vic- \ toria (some eight hundred men) is advancing on the Matabele frontier. LONDON, Oct. 8. Lord Ripon has cabled to Sir H. Loch, giving him fall power to repress i the Matabele outbreak.
