THE BRAZILIAN REVOLT.
[Special to Pbkss Association.] WASHINGTON, Oct. 7. Conflicting information has been received from Brazil as to the effect of the two clays' bombardment of Rio. One account, states that President Peixoto's soldiers are murdering residents and plundering their residences, and also that the foreign warships, owing to the position of the new defences, remained inactive. The Consul warned British residents to flee from the capital. The diplomatic agents have warned President Peixoto that unless he withdraws his forces from Eio by Sunday, the foreign Powers will recognise the rebels as belligerents. LONDON, Oct. 7. The statement that Prince Alexander, of Saxe-Coburg, grandson of the ex-Emperor of Brazil, had sailed for hio is denied. LONDON, Oct. 8. The Brazilian Legation in London denies the reports of murders by the President's soldiery. EIO DB JANEIRO, Oct. 7. The Foreign diplomatists have ordered President Peixoto to compromise with the rebels or leave Rio.
