Bootmakers' Union.
The fortnightly meeting of the New Zealand Federated Bootmakers' Union, Christchurch Branch, was held on Wednesday evening at Inglia' Buildings, thePresisident (Mr S. Crooke) in the chair. There was a large attendance of members. Correspondence was received from the Wellington, Dunedin and Invercargill Branches, sending their half-yearly balance-sheets, which showed the Federation to be in a good financial position. A copy oE the political platform which had been drawn up by the Tradea and Labour organisations in and around Canterbury wbb received, and after a lengthy discussion it was decided to adopt it as read. Several Labour Bills which have been before Parliament were received and referred to the Parliamentary Committee for consideration.
