BICYCLE TOURING CLUB.

■» Annual Meeting. The fourth annual general meeting of the Bicycle Touring Club was held in the Clubroom yesterday evening. There was a large attendance. The captain, Mr It. P. Clarkson who occupied the chair, congratulated the Club on its satisfactory condition. The Hon Sec, Mr C. H. Cotton, read the Committee's report, which congratulated tho Club on the extraordinary progress made during the past season. Tbo finances of the Club were never in a more promising condition. There had been a large increase in the number of active members, which is now seventy-five, as against forty at the beginning of the season. For the first time in the history of the Club,lady members had been admitted, and the Club has a larger number of lady riders than any other CycliDg Club in New Zealand. Touring had ma'do great strides, but the Committee hope to see this branch of cycling still further developed during the forthcoming season. The first race meeting under the auspices of the Club was held at Lancaster Park on Oct. 28, 1892. The tporfc was aU that could be deaired, the Committee introducing a novelty in the shape of a "Team Race," B.T.C. v. P.B.C. The reputation of the Club had been worthily upheld on the track by Messrs Forbes Bros., Clarkson Bros., E. J. Lilly, W. J. Cole and A. W. Joss. The only championship secured by a Cbristchurch Club lant season was apI propriated by Mr Tom Clarkson (Ten-mile Ordinary). The annual Ten-mile Eoad Eace was won last year by Mr S. Cookson. The thanks of the Club were due to the lady members who brought the" Leap-year ball" on Juno 22 to such a successful issue. The dancing asoembly, under the Secretaryship of Mr W. Thompson, was much appreciated. To mark Ihe Club's appreciation of the brilliant performances of the racing men, a smoke concert was given in their honour, and was a great success. The Olub-rooms had been handsomely decorated and re-furnished, and the read-ing-room is well supplied with cycling and other literature. The debating class had been well attended. The Treasurer, Mr J. W. Fitzgerald, read the balance-sheet, which showed the receipts to have been £173. Is. This did not iaclude a balance of £3 153 4d from

last year. The expenditure amounted to £177 6a 4d. The aßsets were valued at J658 10s 2d, and the liabilities amounted to £15 12s. After a short discussion the report and the balance-sheet were unanimously adopted, Messrs Cotton and Fitzgerald being highly complimented. The election of officers resulted as follows : — Patron, the Hon William Pemher Reeveß, M. H.R., re-elected ; President., Mr James L. Fenerty. Tho election of VicePresidents was held over. Captain, Mr R. P. Clarkson re-elected; Sub-Captains, Messrs W. G. Williams and J. Forbes reelected; Hon Sec, Mr Charles H. Cotton re-elected; Assistant Hon Sec, Mr G. H. Forbes re-elected; Hon Treasurer, Mr J. W. Fitzgerald re-elected ; Committee, Messrs F. Pannell, W. Cox, T. D*nk=<, J. Gofton, and E. E. Fitzhenry; Auditors, Messrs W. E. Arey and F. N. Adauu-. Votes of thanks were passed to the outgoing officers and Committee, to Mr H. Rossiter for his services at concerts, and to all who had assisted the Club during tbe past year. The meeting closed with a vote of - thanks to the Chairman.
