Sydennam.
Quite as much interest as usual, perhaps rather more, wa3 taken in the Borough elections at Sydenham. There were three vacancies to be filled, and of the three retiring Councillors, one, Councillor Bowden, did not seek re-election. The candidates were Meßßrs MufEett and Gledhill, the two Councillors who again competed for municipal honours, while Messrs Hopper, baker, Smith, law-clerk, and Buddy, commission agenc (formerly the Borough Inspector), represented i the new blood. During the day there was i a stir round the municipal offices, traps I and cabs frequently arriving with voters, i and candidates button-holing the arrivals assiduously. Up to half-past twelve o'clock about 130 votera had made their election. The result was regarded as doubtful, the general opinion being that the two old , Councillors would be returned, with Mr Hopper or Mr Smith as their coadjutor.
