SOCIETIES, &c.

Obange Lodge.— The L.0.L., No. 37, Rangiora, held its monthly meeting on August 3. The W.M., Bro H. Davis, presided, and there wa3 a very good attendance. One candidate was proposed, and one initiated. A brother joined the Lodge hy clearance from a Home Lodge. Three brothers applied for their Eoyal Arch Purple Degree, and arrangements will be made to have the same conferred on them next Lodge night. The balancesheet in connection with the celebration on July 12 showed a substantial credit balance. A hearty vote of thanka was passed to the Committee, and also to those ladies and geutlemenjvho had assisted in making* the affair such a success. The nomination and election of cffieers resulted aa follows*. — "W.M., Bro E. H. Walker; W.D.M., Bro R. Purvis; Chaplain, Bro H. C. Philpot; Secretary, Bro* J. Marshall (re-elecfced) ; Treasurer, Bro C. King (reelected). All the other offices were filled. Tho installation will take place at the October meeting. After transacting a lot of other business, the Lodge was closed. The Brethren afterwards eat down to a hastily prepared repast, when the healths of the W.M., who has just left the district, the W.M. elect, and Secretary, were drunk with musical honours. Several Bongs were contributed, and a couple of hours were pleasantly spent.
